BBR Mazda MX-5 StarChip ECU remapping options

BBR is pleased to announce solutions for remapping, data logging and fault diagnostics for Mazda MX-5 MK3/3.5 models.  Our ECU tuning solutions include:

i) BBR StarChip

A thoroughly developed and tested ECU remap from Legendary Mazda performance tuner BBR. Back to back dyno testing against a standard 158bhp 2.0i Mazda MX-5 shows a considerable power gain of 8bhp, with a healthy increase of 10-12 lb.ft. of torque. The torque graph produced with BBR's remap is far smother than stock and shows increases in power throughout the entire rev range. Throttle response is greatly improved, making the MX-5 a far more willing, eager and exciting car to drive. With BBR's new fuel map the car is more economical than standard if driven in a 'like for like' manner. EGR (exhaust gas recycling) is also deactivated to greatly reduce inlet temperatures, keeping the engine's intake charge far cleaner and further improving economy.

MX-5 customers choosing the 'StarChip only' option are required to visit BBR's premises in Brackley where the StarChip ECU remap can be installed using BBR's advanced hardware interface.

ii) BBR StarChip with EcuTek's ProECU MX-5 Programming Kit

Customers can now elect to reprogram their own MX-5 using BBR's new EcuTek ProECU programming kit. Supplied as a package including all the necessary software and hardware to enable the DIY upload of BBR developed Mazda MX-5 StarChip ECU remaps, the ProECU programming kit can also be used for diagnostics and data logging.The ProECU is a powerful tool that allows users to fault find and clear fault codes on their MX-5, saving them costly and inconvenient visits to Mazda dealers. The ProECU hardware is not locked to a single vehicle and with further supplied BBR files it can be used to tune, log, diagnose multiple Mazda cars. Included with our BBR StarChip is the customer's original standard MX-5's ECU file/ROM in case (in the very unlikely event) you wish to return your vehicle to stock trim.

Further BBR StarChip MX-5 maps are available (we have full software access to all ECU parameters), featuring valet mode, as well as custom tuned files for all modifications including supercharged cars. Options including ECU error light removal functions for fault codes generated by removal of a catalyst or the entire post cat lambda sensor etc are also available.
