The Berkeley is based on a standard 1800cc model and was named after the world famous university in California. It also commemorates the last of the Mk.1 MX-5’s to roll off the production line in 1998. Only 400 units were made and cost £17,600.00 when purchased new. This special version was finished in Sparkle Green and sported specially made 15″ alloy wheels, locking wheel nuts and a smart chrome boot rack. The interior was trimmed in black and grey leather with matching door trim panels.
This vehicle has just one previous owner and comes with a factory colour coded hard top, it is not a restored example, it is very tidy and as original, even with supplying dealers original number plates. Do bear in mind this is almost a 20 year old car with original bodywork, so it does have the odd mark but we think you’d struggle to find better. We have removed the faded wood trim, refurbished the alloy wheels and brakes and fully serviced the vehicle. It was going to be used for a BBR demonstrator with turbocharged conversion, but with another recently acquired vehicle we have had a change of plan, we would of course be happy to turbocharge for the new owner!
Tidy, original MX-5 MK1’s are getting harder to find, this vehicle wants very little work to make at pristine and is guaranteed to only increase in value!
